Life Is A Reflection

If I said to you that your whole world is a reflection of yourself, what is it that I am saying exactly?  Dr Wayne Dyer suggests that, “The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of the state of your mind”, meaning that your thoughts, feelings and reactions are experienced by the content of your mind and your life is a direct result of such.

So what does this really mean?  It means that it is vitally important to know yourself as stated by Murdo Macdonald Bayne, “Only with knowledge of the self is there wisdom, and with wisdom there is love, the key to all problems.” This knowledge of the self, is to understand yourself and you must understand your relationship with others, your reactions, your fears, your antagonisms, your beliefs and so on, and see how these come about. Through your reactions to another you can understand yourself through discerning your thoughts, feelings and reactions.

When you understand yourself, you will see how you have been conditioned. You will see how you are reacting to protect your conditioning; you will know what your conditioning, your beliefs, your opinions, your fears, are; all of these have their roots in your mind only, and have no power except the power you yourself give them.  Then you can understand the words of Buddha when he said, “A man who conquers himself is greater than one who conquers a thousand men in battle.”

If you look deeply into this you will see that we make the world what it is.  I came upon a quote that says, your perception of me is a reflection of you; my reaction to you is an awareness of me.  This “awareness” being the key to living in the present moment, the utilisation of the 3 parts that make up the brain, the conscious, sub-conscious and super-conscious levels of mind and our ability to operate selflessly, thinking as one, rather than a separate entity to the whole, that being the whole of existence is one.  It is then in your wholeness that you may know yourself.

It was Anais Nin who said, “we do not see things as they are, we see things as we are,” realise then that your world is only a reflection of yourself. Paulo Coelho goes on to state, “How people treat other people is a direct reflection of how they feel about themselves.” The Dalai Lama says, “When you think everything is someone else’s fault, you will suffer a lot. When you realize that everything springs only from yourself, you will learn both peace and joy.”

It is then clear that we live in a reflected reality, we are holographic in nature and our consciousness works that way. Whether you realize it or not, the way you think and feel about your life, and the experiences you imagine in your mind, all have a significant effect on your life. So much so that when you are able to align your thoughts with your inner source, fantastic changes can and do occur. We’ve been taught, however, that “out there” is way more important than “in here.” Even so, you can overcome these challenges and create fulfilling and lasting transformations for the better.  To you I say, let your life be a reflection of what you want to see in others.
